  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cook the macaroni pasta until al dente for about 8 minutes.
  2. While waiting for the macaroni to cook, start making a roux that makes up the base for this creamy macaroni and cheese. Start by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour, salt, pepper and stir until smooth. Slowly pour in the milk and stir until the mixture is smooth and bubbling.
  3. Slowly stir in the grated cheddar cheese until smooth and melted.
  4. Drain and stir in the macaroni into the cheese sauce until completely coated.
